Two men are assisting police with their enquiries after a “major security incident” at a Queensland shopping centre.
Earlier this morning, officers were called to Toowoomba’s Grand Central shopping centre after reports of a break in just before 6am.
The alarm was raised after two men carrying knives were seen walking in to the centre.
The entire complex was placed into lock down, with hundreds of workers evacuated as authorities searched for the pair. The surrounding city block was also shut down.
The large police presence - which included the Towoomba Dog Squad - has since been cleared from the area and popular stores Myer, Target and Coles have now been re-opened.
Cordons along the surrounding streets Victoria, Margaret, Little and Duggan are currently being lifted.
No charges have been laid and QLD police have said they resolved the incident “without any issue.”
