Actress and director Greta Gerwig recently expressed that she would never have worked on his film in 2012 if she had known, and actor Timothée Chalamet has also announced that he would donate his salary from Woody Allen's newest movie to charity.
HOWEVER, Selena Gomez has kept her lips sealed about working with Woody Allen, ever since copping criticism about it when it was announced last year.
Now her own mother, Mandy Teefey has come out and expressed her disappointment. Posting a photo of the Cranberries lead singer Dolores O'Riordan, who died this week, a fan directly asked her why Selena hasn't apologised for her actions yet.
"Make Selena write an apology about the woddy Allen [sic] film," @victorcircus1 said on Instagram. Mandy replied by saying, "Sorry, No one can make Selena do anything she doesn’t want to. I had a long talk with her about not working with him and it didn’t click. Her team are amazing people. There is no fall person here. No one controls her. She makes all her own decisions. No matter how hard you try to advise. It falls on deaf ears."
Some fans were upset with Mandy, believing that she threw Selena "under the bus", with some writing things like, "Hey, Mandy you should be ashamed of yourself! You're really out here making Selena look bad and also talking about her personal life to the media, I feel so sorry for Selena."
Another wrote, "You have a real issue... Whatever kind of conversation you had with Selena is nobody's business. You just threw your own kid under the bus even after watching the media tear her apart everyday. You genuinely do not care. You just love the drama. Shame on you. Stop throwing a tantrum & act your age for once!"
However, Mandy also received support too, with fans reminding everyone that it was Selena who is in the wrong.
"Y'all are literally attacking Selena's mom when Selena is in the wrong. You guys are all supporting her in this situation while she is wrong for working with a rapist. It's okay to not be okay with EVERYTHING your idol does guys."
Selena is still yet to address the issue.
