Did you notice that Selena Gomez has been laying low over the past few months? Yep, she knows you know as well and she's finally letting us know why.
In an emotional Instagram post, the "Fetish" singer revealed that she has been in hospital after suffering from kidney failure.
Sel was visiting her bae The Weeknd on tour in May when her kidney started to fail and she was rushed to hospital.
TMZ reports that Abel was "right by her side" during the whole ordeal and her friend, actress Francia Raisa donated her kidney to Sel that ultimately saved her life.
Sel wrote a long emotional caption informing fans on what she had been through.
"I’m very aware some of my fans had noticed I was laying low for part of the summer and questioning why I wasn’t promoting my new music, which I was extremely proud of. So I found out I needed to get a kidney transplant due to my Lupus and was recovering. It was what I needed to do for my overall health. I honestly look forward to sharing with you, soon my journey through these past several months as I have always wanted to do with you. Until then I want to publicly thank my family and incredible team of doctors for everything they have done for me prior to and post-surgery. And finally, there aren’t words to describe how I can possibly thank my beautiful friend Francia Raisa. She gave me the ultimate gift and sacrifice by donating her kidney to me. I am incredibly blessed. I love you so much."
Selena's incredible friend Francia (who stars in Secret Life of an American Teenager) took to Instagram to share her touching journey with Sel.
"I am beyond grateful that God would trust me with something that not only saved a life, but changed mine in the process," she wrote.
"This was part of our story, and we will share it soon, but what is important now is that this is not the only story."
A deep dive into the star's Insta reveals that the pair have been friends for quite some time.
Francia has posted numerous times about her mems with Sel and describes her as a "sister".
On behalf of Selenators everywhere, we'd like to thank Francia from the bottom of our hearts for helping our girl out in the best way possible.
Now THAT is friendship goals. <333
