In 2015, Gomez released her second studio album, Revival. At the time, she was trying to break away from the cute teen Disney star persona people knew her as in roles in Wizards of Waverly Place, Princess Protection Program, Another Cinderella Story and more.
So much so, in fact, that, in a new cover interview with Allure, Selena says she felt like she was “pressured” to “show skin.” FYI, that's something she really doesn’t think she’d do on her own.
"I just did things that weren't really me," Gomez told Allure. "There was pressure to seem more adult on my album, Revival. [I felt] the need to show skin... I really don't think I was [that] person."
"I would definitely like to say I'm an entrepreneur... It's more that I am in control," she continued. "I am in full control of my life and everything that I do, what is out there, everything. So I would like to say, yes. I'm in charge of everything in my life."
The singer also talked about the effect social media can have on your mental health, confessing she’s stopped Googling herself as a sign of self-care.
“I haven’t done that in years,” she said. “I honestly can’t. I’m strong in a lot of ways, but I think I just have way too much of a sensitive heart.”
Earlier this week, Gomez admitted that “every one of my exes thinks I’m crazy,” after on and off ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber appeared on a song and lip-synced her name. For now, the former Disney star turned singer-actress is working on a new album (which she wants Taylor Swift to feature in) and will potentially star in this classic horror movie franchise.
