The reaction has been mixed to say the least, because they used Ruby, a white model which is at odds with what Basquiat was outspoken about. He often questioned and satirised the western, mainstream representation of black people.
He was also highly against consumerism, so lending his name to one of the largest brands in the world is probably not something he would do if he was still alive.
