Unless you’ve been living under a rock in the last few years, there’s a big chance you’ve heard of - and are obsessed with - K-Pop girl group Blackpink, aka the biggest girl band in the world right now.
The four person squad - Rosé, Jeannie, Lisa and Jisso - come from all across the Asia-Pacific region, are each ambassadors of luxury fashion and beauty brands from MAC Cosmetics to Celine, absolute style icons, have their own Netflix film, and performed at Coachella, Jimmy Fallon and more.
Last year, their music had over 300 million streams, and their song How You Like That quickly became the second-biggest song in the world on Spotify, per Forbes. So, yeah, they’re a pretty big deal.
And, as young Aussies, we’re proud to see one of its members come from Down Under, and be one of the biggest Aussie exports in pop music around the world. Meet Rosé, Blackpink member turned solo artist with her debut single album, R.
Rosé truly is one of our greatest role models. When she was 16, she auditioned for a South Korean record label and pursued her dream of becoming a K-Pop star, undergoing years of vigorous training and hardship and finding her home among her fellow bandmates.
24 hours after the music video to her debut solo track, On The Ground, dropped, it became the most viewed South Korean music video from a solo artist ever, breaking the almost eight year long record of PSY’s Gentleman.
So, who is the Aussie member of Blackpink? Keep reading to find out.
