After Luke Perry's tragic death, Riverdale confirmed that they have shut down production of the show.
PEOPLE reported the CW closed production for the day on Monday after Luke had died from a stroke.
Series executive producers Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Jon Goldwater said in a statement to PEOPLE, the cast and crew are “deeply saddened” by the loss of Perry - who plays Archie's father, Fred Andrews.
"We are deeply saddened to learn today about the passing of Luke Perry. A beloved member of the ‘Riverdale,’ Warner Bros. and CW family, Luke was everything you would hope he would be: an incredibly caring, consummate professional with a giant heart, and a true friend to all. A father figure and mentor to the show’s young cast, Luke was incredibly generous, and he infused the set with love and kindness. Our thoughts are with Luke’s family during this most difficult time."
Luke starred as Archie's (KJ Apa's) dad, Fred Andrews on the show. He joined the cast during the first season and has been a pivotal moral compass throughout the series.
