*WARNING: This post contains spoilers for the most recent musical episode of Riverdale*
Someone new has died in Riverdale, and honestly, it's about time the drama is about something other than Hiram Lodge buying property.
While the cast performed a rendition of Carrie the musical, there was blood. Lol, that was expected.
Cheryl was meant to play the lead in the musical, but had to back out last minute because she was having issues with her mum. Instead, Midge takes her place. During the show, Midge winds up dead on stage.
So we're wondering if the real target was Chezza. Yikes.
E! News chatted to showrunner Roberto Aguirre Sacasa to break down wtf happened, and he revealed: "We love Emijlia [Baranac, who plays Midge] so much, and we tried so hard to keep her around, but at the end of the day it's how the story needed to play out. We needed something to propel us into these last few episodes, and you'll see the death of Midge really was the perfect opportunity to kick off this next and final story arc for the season. RIP Midge."
He says Midge's death is "almost a tipping point—for everyone."
Riverdale airs tonight on Netflix!!
