Most of the hate was directed at Pete, who has now revealed that he was receiving death threats for dating Ariana.
In a new interview with Howard Stern on his SiriusXM radio show, Pete explained how bad it actually got. "Yeah, I got a death threat," he said. "Someone wanted to shoot me in the face, because she's so hot. Do you know how insane that is? I was like, am I that ugly that people want to shoot me in the face? They're like, 'No, f*ck this guy.' What did I do?"
Awful.
In the same interview, Pete explained how the abusive comments online is part of the reason why he doesn't have his own Instagram password anymore. "I have an account in case I have to do something, but I don't know how to go on there," he said. "I don't f*cking care. It makes me feel weird about myself. It's just like, 'What did you expect?' Whenever I think of something, like, if I post something, and people just sh*t all over it, I was like, 'What are you - you're asking for it' you know?
"If you want to find bad stuff about yourself, you can find it very easily," he added.
In July, Pete removed all of his Instagram posts, explaining that he was having a bad experience on the social media app. "No there's nothing wrong. No nothing happened. No there's nothing cryptic about anything," he wrote at the time. "I just don't want to be on Instagram anymore. Or on any social media platform. The interent is an evil place and it doesn’t make me feel good. Why should I spend any time on negative energy when my real life is f*cking lit. The fact that I even have to say this proves my point. I love you all and I’m sure I’ll be back at some point."
