For generations, cosmetic and beauty companies have ignored the fact that periods are red (not blue, like shown in ads) and that women have hair. Shock horror, right!?
While razor blade ads still show a woman shaving her completely waxed legs, MAC Cosmetics have pushed the envelope by showing an unedited, close-up shot of a female's lips that has a little peach fuzz.
It's very refreshing to see such a real image on such a highly-esteemed and popular makeup brand, but some people weren't too happy about the shot.
"Um, is this the photo that is suppose to have upper lip hair??????," one person commented.
"OMG what about the small hair or the mustache on her mouth 🤦🏻♀️," wrote another.
"What about the yukyyyy hair on the lips ...omg."
Thankfully, the majority of the comments were filled with support and encouragement.
"IT IS A BIG YES TO BODY HAIR. LET'S GET REAL, NOBODY IS HAIRLESS RIGHT?"
"Love the real beauty not being photoshopped! ♥️♥️♥️"
"Look at this beautiful company representing those of us women who aren't completely hairless!"
MAC, you're killing it!
