For celebrities, their looks are heavily criticised by the millions of people watching their every move, so for them, they have to be extra careful.
But, sometimes, they're not very careful at all.
Nina Dobrev is the latest to be accused of cultural appropriation, after she chose to go as a day of the dead sugar skull:
In Mexico, the last day of October through to November 2 is referred to as Day of the Dead, which, "focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember friends and family members who have died."
During those dates, people of Mexican descent will don themselves in similar skull makeup to celebrate the occasion.
To use it as a costume is cultural appropriation, and disrespectful.
Naturally, Twitter had thoughts:
But Nina isn't the only celebrity under fire this Halloween. Just yesterday, Kim Kardashian was called out for dressing up as late African American singer, Aaliyah.
Le sigh.
