According to the New York Sex Offenders database, Kenneth was convicted of attempted rape on April 5, 1995.
The court records that were obtained by TMZ reveal that he was 16 at the time, with his victim being a 16-year-old girl.
The records also show that Kenneth used a sharp object when he was trying to force the girl into having sex with him.
For the crime, Kenneth served almost four years in New York state prison and is now classified as a level 2 sex offender. The offense indicates that he has a "moderate risk of repeat offense".
Nicki is aware of his crimes and has admitted them herself.
In an Instagram pic of herself and Kenneth, she responded to a comment: “He was 15, she was 16…in a relationship. But go awf, Internet. Y’all can’t run my life. Y’all can’t even run y’all own life. Thank you boo.”
Jesus.
Nicki has disabled her comments on Instagram, but not before the comment was screenshot by @theshaderoom.
Kenneth Petty was also convicted of first-degree manslaughter.
The Blast obtained a criminal complaint showing that he pled guilty to the shooting death of a man named Lamont Robinson.
According to the document, Kenenth shot Lamont "with a loaded handgun multiple times" on April 27, 2002.
He served seven years for the crime, and was released in May 2013.
Unfortunately for Nicki, this isn't the first time she has defended a sex offender. She has defended her brother, Jelani Maraj, when he was found guilty of sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl in November 2017.
She has also worked with Tekashi 6ix9ine, who was sentenced to four years of probation in October for engaging in sexual acts with a 13-year-old girl.
