In a sneak peak of his the Sunday Project interview with Lisa Wilkinson, the footy player says the realisation hit him "like a thunderbolt."
"When did you know that you weren't going to pick someone?" Lisa asks.
"It hit me with like, a fair bit of a thunderbolt," the 30-year-old responds.
"It was just like, you know what, out of respect to these women," he said, adding that he was not in love with either of the finalists.
"If I can't stand here and say, 'I'm picking her and I love her', if I can't say that, why would I start something with someone?"
Nick shocked the nation on Thursday night when he dumped finalists Sophie and Brittany, offering both heartbroken ladies a near identical explanation stating he was not ready to put 100 per cent into a relationship.
