It’s frustrating when supermodels tell young girls that they achieve their impossible beauty by drinking water and sleeping well, because everyone knows it’s not entirely true.
People get plastic surgery, and while they aren’t expected to tell everyone their personal business, they can’t always claim natural beauty, when it’s not.
Supermodel and absolute OG, Tyra Banks, agrees.
In a new memoir, Tyra admits to the plastic surgery she has had.
“I had bones in my nose that were growing and itching,” she told People. “I could breathe fine, but I added cosmetic surgery. I admit it! Fake hair, and I did my nose. I feel I have a responsibility to tell the truth.”
She admits that she hasn’t had “age stuff” done yet, but doesn’t judge anyone who does. “Fix it or flaunt it — I think women should be able to do both,” she said.
It’s not the first time she’s opened up about cosmetic surgery either. In 2011, she told Piers Morgan that she was open to it “when the time comes,” and that it had been a huge rumour that she had breast implants. “It was a very big rumour that I had breast implants and I don’t blame you. They pretty much looked fake,” she said. “I’ll admit that they did look fake, but they weren’t. And my mom was like, ‘They have no idea that you’re just [busty].’”
Her memoir, Perfect Is Boring, was written with her mum, and it talks about what her mum taught her about self-image.
She also admitted to People that it’s okay to wear makeup! (AMEN).
“As a model, I needed makeup. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that,” she said.
Yes girl.
