If you’re anything like us, your Spotify usage has probably skyrocketed in self-iso.

We listen to music when we’re making breakfast. We listen to music while we’re working or studying. We listen to music when we’re having our bi-weekly cry about the current state of the world!

But, what music are we all listening to in lockdown, exactly?

Well, new data from OnBuy has revealed just that and turns out…a lot of us are getting pretty literal about this virus thing!

The research analysed over 35,000 different songs, scoring through Spotify playlists that had ‘lockdown’, ‘quarantine’, ‘coronavirus’ and/or ‘COVID-19’ in their title,

At the top of the list was Britney Spears’ Toxic, appearing on 95 of the top 500 self-isolation playlist. No surprises there! Not only is it an absolute banger, it’s pretty freakin’ relevant right now.

The Bee Gees placed second with their classic Stayin’ Alive, appearing in 87 of the playlists. This was closely followed by MC Hammer’s U Can’t Touch This, which featured in 85.

Other top contenders include:

  • Don’t Stand So Close To Me – The Police (83 playlists)
  • I Will Survive – Gloria Gaynor (75 playlists)
  • SICKO MODE – Travis Scott (70 playlists)
  • Mask Off – Future (69 playlists)

One thing that’s clear is — at least we’re all about to keep a bit of a sense of humour throughout all this. Coz, let’s face it, if we don’t laugh, we’ll probably cry!
