The Weeknd released his EP My Dear Melancholy shortly after his break up with Selena Gomez. As expected, it’s very sad and emotional.
But that wasn’t always the plan.
“Prior to Melancholy, I had a whole album written, done,” he said in his new cover story for Time magazine’s Next Generation Leaders issue. “[It] wasn’t melancholy at all because it was a different time in my life. … It was very upbeat — it was beautiful.”
“I don’t want to perform something that I don’t feel,” he said, adding that fans will “never” hear the album.

Imagine the absolute bangers we would have gotten if the pair didn’t end up splitting!!
Now, it seems like The Weeknd is back with his ex Bella Hadid, as they’ve been spotted on numerous occasions hanging out, and even kissing.
So who knows… maybe we’ll eventually get that upbeat album, but instead of having an ‘ass like Selena’, he’ll focus on Bella instead.
