Shocking... 🙄

In case you (somehow) missed it, controversial YouTube couple Jake Paul and Tana Mongeau are engaged… after two short months of dating.

WATCH: Jake Paul proposes to Tana Mongeau

Paul proposed to the Youtuber on her 21st birthday, setting social media on FIRE.

It left Tana’s ex, Bella Thorne, in tears over the news… but what has become the standard for all things YouTuber news is to question EVERYTHING, and that’s exactly what fans are doing.

Is the engagement real, or have they pulled off this PR stunt for #clout?

Tana herself confirmed that the whole engagement is real, by replying to a fan’s tweet asking about it being a joke.

“it’s not,” replied Tana. “i’m engaged. holy f*ck.”

Tana showed off her massive sparkler when the news was announced, but according to Ira Weissman, founder of The Diamond Pro, who talked to E! News about the ring, fans are right to be skeptical.

“Nothing is a sure thing without seeing the ring(s) up close, but everything about this little clip says ‘fake,'” Ira said, referring to a video Tana posted showing off the ring the night of the engagement.

“You can see the exaggerated sparkling light reflecting off of something in the bottom right of the frame in the beginning of the clip,” he continued.

“This is exactly what you would want to use to try to enhance the sparkle of a simulated diamond to make it look like the real thing. Plus, the glassy look of the very large center stone as it’s brought closer to the camera also points heavily towards it being a cubic zirconia.”

Add a dash of Kira Kira app to the video, and BAM – the fake ring has the sparkle of a real diamond.

Jewelry expert Lauren McCawley also told E! that if the ring is made from cubic zirconia, it would probably cost about $200… NOT $75,000-$100,000 which price tag jeweler Jerry Blickman estimated for the real thing.

Then again, we aren’t questioning their wealth. Paul often splurges on high-priced items, like the  $124,000 car he bought Tana for her birthday.

But let’s be real, if Jake didn’t put a ring on Erika Costell’s finger the whole time they dated, then we don’t think he would make this decision with Tana after only 2 months.

Smells like a prank to us.
