Shawn Mendes gets pretty deep with a lot of his lyrics, we mean, his love songs hit us RIGHT in the feels.
So you may wonder where he gets inspiration from… like is he that heartbroken?!
Well surprisingly, no… he isn’t. But he wants to be!
Yes, you heard that right. Shawn Mendes wants somebody to break his heart. While talking to Fernanda Catania on her YouTube channel Foquinha, she asked him if he had ever suffered for love. That’s when he confessed that he hasn’t.
“I have mildly [suffered for love], not as much as I make it sound like. I need to get my heart broken so I can write another album. I don’t think I’ve ever had my heart broken,” Shawn said. “I’m lucky, but that means it has to happen. But that’s good, I can’t wait for it to happen because I’ll probably get some good songs out of it.”
Well, that’s one way to look at it.
Shawn hasn’t publicly had a girlfriend since he’s been a superstar, however he’s only 19 years old! He basically has all the time in the world to have his heart broken.
But hell, if his songs are this good without the real life experience, imagine what he could pull out after a heart shattering experience…
