Now that Hailey Baldwin Bieber is married, her ex-boyfriend Shawn Mendes is looking back and reflecting on their time together.
In a nutshell, she’s the one that got away.
Shawn has had an extremely revealing interview with Rolling Stone magazine, where he has opened up about his relationship with Hailey, and even his sexuality (which is straight, by the way).
When Shawn found out that Hailey and Justin Bieber had gotten engaged, he texted her straight away.
“I texted Hailey, ‘Congratulations,’ and I really am happy for them. She’s still one of the f–king coolest people ever — she’s not just a beautiful person visually, but she’s one of the most beautiful hearts I’ve ever met…I think I’m an idiot to not, you know…but you can’t control your heart.”
Ouch!
But Shawn explained how he feels pressure to have a girlfriend to finally prove to the world that he is indeed straight.
“In the back of my heart, I feel like I need to go be seen with someone — like a girl — in public, to prove to people that I’m not gay,” he explained. “Even though in my heart I know that it’s not a bad thing. There’s still a piece of me that thinks that. And I hate that side of me.”
Poor Shawn. Even if he did have feelings for someone, he has NO game, according to him.
“There’s less we have to do because of the good hair,” he said. “But being good-looking doesn’t make you have game.”
Well, Shawn, there are a LOT of female fans who would happily volunteer as tribute. Just sayin’.
