Over the weekend, students who have been working their asses off after the Parkland school shooting led the March for Our Lives protest in Washington, and it was a huge success.
Billions (not really) of people and celebrities attended the event, including the likes of Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato, Kim Kardashian, Bella Thorne and Selena Gomez.
Selena isn’t one to publicly talk about politics, however in support of the movement, she posted numerous shots of the protest on Instagram with the same caption: “I don’t want this to just be an Instagram post anymore. PLEASE. ENOUGH. These people, families and CHILDREN have suffered enough. Today we march for our lives. I’m going to continue to trust god with the future and also play my part in bringing change. #marchforourlives #notjustahashtag”.

While Selena got a lot of praise for her posts, many were adamant on reminding her of the past when she refused to support the Black Lives Matter movement in July, 2016.

Back then, Selena wasn’t here for the hashtag at all, and people are finding it hypocritical with her new use of ‘#notjustahashtag’.
Good morning to everyone besides the trash hypocrite Selena Gomez

the fact that she said “not just a hashtag” is literally implying that black lives matter is “”””just a hashtag””””. blm is a fully formed organization and movement with specific ideas for reform of police practices. and selena is a hypocrite. https://t.co/1GQz8lPEpY
