It’s not a good week to be PewDiePie.
The world’s biggest YouTuber is always close to controversy, and this week is no different.
The vlogger has copped a whole lot of backlash after “supporting a racist YouTube channel.”
In a recent video on his channel, he said: “We also have [the channel] E;R, who does great video essays about—he did one on Death Note, which I really, really enjoyed.”
He included a link to the said channel in the video description, which has obviously received a lot more views thanks to him and his influence.
Unfortunately, the channel is privy to a lot of racism.
The video description for the plugged Death Note video reads: “The truth about why this took so long is because I thought it was so funny to call Black L ‘N*glet’ throughout all my recordings (obviously because it’s an ingenious pun on Lawliet [pronounced Law-let]).
“I eventually got it through my thick f*cking skull that YouTube’s looking for A N Y reason, so I redid all the audio to erase my speech crime, but then I got bored and put the project on pause. Now I’m going to finish it.”
Yikes.
The user has also tweeted and retweeted many anti-Semitic ‘jokes’.
PewDiePie has since apologised in a video, admitting he wasn’t aware of the “Nazi references.”
