If there’s one thing Pete Davidson has always been open about, it’s his struggles with mental health.
Now, speaking to Variety, Pete has opened up even further about how far back it goes for him.
While he was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder in 2016, he has battled mental illness since he was a child. He has even admitted that he attempted suicide while he was still in elementary school.
“I’ve been in and out of mental health facilities since I was 9,” he told Variety. “I tried to drown myself in the pool when I was in the fourth or fifth grade. I was trying to get my head stuck in the ladder in the deep end, so I would not be able to get up. But I’m too much of a p*ssy and my head is too small.”
He also touched on how quitting social media was a step in the right direction for his wellbeing.
“The internet is evil, and I don’t like how it affects me,” he says. “I don’t like how the internet is a place where anybody can sh*t on you and make anything up. I’ve worked really hard to get my brain to this place. I can’t go online like everybody else because it’s just a f*ck-fest. And now I get to enjoy my life.”
We’re so happy for him.
