Toy manufacturer Mattel have been making a conscious effort to be more inclusive with their Barbie dolls for quite a while now… but their latest move seems to have been a little misguided.
While turning Barbie into an astronaut, doctor, lawyer ETC is a fabulous idea… giving a black Barbie conrows might not be.
People weren’t impressed with black Barbie’s poofy blonde hair that was put into cornrows on the side, and they let social media know about it.
Lol barbie… this is actually just embarrassing. Like they wanted to fit every black hair style on one head. The cornrows, the dyed weave, body wave bundles. Why? Why? Why? Just ask any black person and they will tell you, that you don’t do this anywhere. ANYWHERE ! https://t.co/KhRVhtFdVS

@Barbie Hi umm… I’m gonna need an explanation pertaining to the black Barbie’s hair. Like… this is unacceptable. What is this. Who did this. Why. Who approved this. What were they drinking. Thanks in advance. pic.twitter.com/xwiVQlXaHC

Well, it’s not the first time the company has found itself in some hot water!
