Last week, social media star Emily Ratajkowski landed a contract with hair care brand Kerastase.
To celebrate, she posted a glam shot of herself on Instagram announcing the news, however, her insensitive caption angered everyone.
The now changed captioned initially read, “Hair is a fundamental part of beauty, femininity, and identity. So excited to announce that I am the new face of @kerastase_official!”
Yikes.

Plenty of women shave their hair by choice. Does that mean they lack beauty, femininity and identity? Absolutely not! Especially women who endure cancer treatments, alopecia, and any other condition that may affect hair growth.
Now, teenage icon Millie Bobby Brown has expressed her thoughts on shaved hair, as someone who shaved it all off for her role as Eleven in Stranger Things.
“i miss my shaved head,” she began. “shaving your head is so empowering. You don’t need hair to be beautiful. You are beautiful with or without. I learnt that too x.”
GEDDIT GURL!
She also shared a video of the day she shaved her hair, and an inspiring message below.

“The day I shaved my head was the most empowering moment of my whole life. The last strand of hair cut off was the moment my whole face was on show and I couldn’t hide behind my hair like I used to. As I looked in the mirror I realized I had one job to do. Inspire.”
Honestly, we could all learn a thing or two from this incredible girl… who may we remind you is only thirteen!

My 7 year old wanted to be Eleven for Halloween. When I asked her what she wanted to do with her hair she just said, "Shave it," with a straight face. So we did. She LOVES Stranger Things and the character you play means a lot to her. 🖤 pic.twitter.com/63dUGYqcZx

She absolutely loves it and hasn't cared too much what anyone has had to say about it. She got called a boy a couple times at school but told me she didn't care bc there's nothing wrong with being a boy and also corrected the older kids that girls can have short hair too.

Best decision I’ve ever made. It made me realize that the concept of beauty is truly subjective, and I can be pretty like me, I don’t have to be pretty like other people.

Plus I have only used like two bottles of shampoo/conditioner in 6 months so that’s cool too. https://t.co/f49QwqE9eI
100%. Shaving most of my hair off was the most exciting, liberating & empowering experience. I laughed through most of it. Unlikely to ever grow it out again. https://t.co/uxzJuiYrGc
