EXCLUSIVE: Mikey Pembroke blasts producers kicking him out

As The Daily Telegraph has reported, Endemol Shine and Channel Nine found over 15 ‘worrying’ messages on Mikey’s Instagram account earlier this month.

It comes as producers of the show have full access to the contestants’ social pages as part of their contracts, while the show is on air.

The messages were sent from accounts associated with bikies. Unfortunately for Mikey, who was set to attend an event in Sydney, was told by Nine to immediately not to return home or work.

Mikey and his older brother Tom were called into a meeting with Nine, Endemol Shine and legal representatives the next day (March 6).

Tom told The Daily Telegraph that the person had threatened to break into Mikey’s apartment and ‘bash him’.

One of the messages read: “You can watch me bash him if you want, I can video it”, Tom told the publication.

The person threatening Mikey knew his home address.

Mikey and Tom were relocated to Sydney’s Sheraton at Park hotel, and were put into lockdown for 6 days while NSW Police investigate the occurrence.

Nine and Endemol Shine released a statement to The Daily Telegraph stating that the safety of participants of MAFS are taken seriously.

“If there is ever something which comes up that requires the attention or management by other authorities we do not hesitate to take appropriate actions to protect those on our shows,” they said.

It coincides with their statement of protecting the mental health of all participants the network sent to us earlier this month:

“Nine takes its obligations in respect to the health and wellbeing of the participants of this program extremely seriously. All participants have access to the show psychologist during filming, during broadcast and once the program has ended. Nine has arranged an additional service for participants should they like or need further individual and confidential psychological support. This service gives participants access to psychologists who have been specifically engaged to support those involved in the program in relation to their experiences. This service is a dedicated helpline from which participants can also arrange face to face sessions and is an ongoing service available to them all after the series has ended.”
