MAFS Cathy Evans comes under fire for using the N word

Cathy Evans may be off Married At First Sight, but that hasn’t stopped her from being in the limelight.

While she has been one of the most popular contestants this year, old posts have come back to haunt her, which include racial and himophobic slurs.

A resurfaced Instagram post from 2015, when she was 21, included the N-word while she documented her weight loss.

Cathy told Daily Mail Australia: “This post is from 2015 when I was younger and made some foolish decisions. I regret my use of this word and am deeply sorry for any offence I may have caused.”

Her original post read: “Me high waisted shorts getting a little baggy but n***a I’m still wearing them cuz I’m cheap af and don’t wanna buy new ones.”

The MAFS bride also issued an apology for using a homophobic slur and joking about rape, in a resurfaced Instagram post from 2014. 

In the now-deleted post, Cathy said a man from her gym was a ‘f**king f****t’, before telling a friend “he was raping [her] with his eyes”.

Telling the Daily Mail Australia, Cathy continued to apologise: “I am so embarrassed for my use of such offensive and inappropriate language. It was a lapse in judgement at the time and I apologise for any hurt or offence I have caused.”

This might not be good for her blossoming influencer career!

According to Instagram Money Calculator, Cathy could potentially make up to $675 per post if brands want to pay the new influencer her for sponsored content and endorsements.

This week, newly single Cathy’s engagement rate was at 5.38 percent, which is what brands us as a statistic, along with follower count, to calculate how much money they put into their advertising.
