In case you forgot, Lorde was completely snubbed at this years Grammy Awards, despite being the only female nominated for Album Of The Year.
While she was the only female nominated, she was also the only artist in that category not asked to perform during the show.
Instead of a solo performance of one of her tunes, they wanted her to instead be part of a group tribute to Tom Petty.
She wasn’t having it, (and neither was her mum), and has now taken a FULL page out of the New Zealand Herald to thank her fans, and to shade the awards show.
“Oh, hi there! I’m writing this from New York City. Angelo and I sat in Madison Square Garden last night and saw a lot of crazy and wonderful things. I just wanted to say thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for loving and embracing Melodrama the way you did. My nomination belongs to you. Thank you, also, for believing in female musicians. You set a beautiful precedent! All my love, Lorde.”
Angelo is Lorde’s younger brother, who attended the Grammys with her earlier this week.
However, it wasn’t just Lorde’s snub that was the only issue with the Grammys this year. No women won in any of the major categories, aside from Alessia Cara as Best New Artist.
Grammys president Neil Portnow did an interview after the show where he said that if women wanted to win more Grammys, they should “step up”. Wow.
