As we have preached millions of times, it is V important that you triple check what you post on social media ‘coz what might seem like a harmless post to you could be considered super offensive to someone else.
Lili Reinhart has learned this the hard way after a Tweet about Halloween has lead to some heavy online backlash.
The Riverdale star posted a pic of a black creature and wrote, “Found my halloween costume inspired by the color of my soul.”
After copping loads of hate online, Lili deleted the post and issued the following apology:
“I did not mean for my tweet to come off that way. I can see how it was interpreted as being insensitive, completely. I saw the pic on a Halloween Instagram and didn’t think it would be interpreted as being racially insensitive,” she wrote.
“I apologise. Never meant any harm. I can see how it could’ve been misinterpreted.”
Despite Lili’s apology, she is still being flooded with pissed off tweets by her 910K followers.
The backlash comes just a week after Lili’s co-star KJ Apa was slammed for insensitive comments he made about Canada.
Looks like these two will have to have a conversation over at Pop’s diner!
