Of course, most people turned to ex-girlfriend Ariana Grande after the news was released, and she has now paid tribute to him twice.

However, she isn’t the only one taking his death so hard. Fellow rapper and good friend of Mac’s Lil Xan (real name Diego – Noah Cyrus’ ex) has let his fans know that he is quitting music because of the tragedy.

The rapper made a video for Complex‘s ‘Open Late‘ series where he explained that Mac Miller is the reason why he started rapping in the first place, and that his death is “mainly” the reason he’s quitting.

“What Mac Miller meant to me… he was my idol, my hero, the main reason why I even wanted to really pursue music, because music was never what I wanted to do. I wanted to be a photographer and just got tangled in this life. But he’s the reason I pursued music and mainly the reason why I’m quitting music. Plus, all the hate. I just don’t want to deal with that no more.”

Lil Xan says the last time he saw Mac as at a private concert in LA at the beginning of August, roughly one month before he died from an apparent drug overdose.

“The last time I saw Mac Miller, we were just becoming good friends. I saw him at his last performance at Hotel Cafe. It was amazing. It was a 100 people only allowed in there, fans. I think I met his parents back in the green room. We even met Jason Sudeikis. And as I was leaving, I said, ‘Thank you so much, Mac,’ took a picture. I tell him every time how much of an inspiration he is to me. He was the nicest guy. He really is who he portrayed in interviews. I feel like we could relate a lot. The last things he said was, ‘Be safe, I love you.’”
