Archie Andrews was the Riverdale character that shot New Zealand actor KJ Apa into stardom. However, since then he has made quite a name for himself in various other projects.
But bagging Spider-Man would have been a huge win for KJ. Unfortunately for him, British star Tom Holland got the role, which really was perfect casting.

KJ Apa has revealed that he originally auditioned for the role in the Marvel universe, admitting how different his career would be if he got it.
Spider-Man: Homecoming was released the same year as Riverdale, which is ironic in itself.
“I auditioned for Spider-Man. I didn’t get it. You know, sometimes I walk out of an audition — you know when you walk out and you feel really good about it, feel like they loved it or whatever? I didn’t feel like that,” he told MTV News.
Camila Mendes, who plays Veronica Lodge in Riverdale, revealed that she also auditioned for a superhero movie, however she didn’t reveal which character.
Madelaine Petsch (Cheryl Blossom) also chimed in on her superhero audition experience but noted that she may have signed an NDA, so she couldn’t reveal much more.
While KJ would have made a fantastic Peter Parker, it means he never would have taken on the role as Archie Andrews, which we just cannot imagine.
And a Spider-Man that isn’t Tom Holland? No thank you!
