Viewers of the MTV VMAs have come to expect a certain level of drama when it comes to the awards show, and this years was no exception.
With Miley Cyrus bringing her new girlfriend Kaitlynn Carter as her plus one on the heels of her divorce from Liam Hemsworth, to Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes teasing everyone with their “Señorita” performance… a lot went down.
But the best of all has to be this major screw up from actor John Travolta when he was presenting the award for video of the year.
Taylor Swift earnt the title with her music video for “You Need To Calm Down”, however, when presenting the award, John mistook Taylor’s drag-queen friend Jade Jolie – who was dressed up in a Taylor inspired get up – as the actual Taylor Swift.
WATCH the awkward exchange below… John tried to give the trophy to Jade Jolie while Taylor wasn’t even on stage yet!
Oh my lord. No.
Jade Jolie is a RuPaul’s Drag Race contestant from season five, who played Taylor in the actual music video and also impersonated Taylor during her season on the show.
Instead of accepting the award from John, Jade smiled awkwardly, which seemed to make him realise his mistake.
As expected, the internet was loving this exchange more than anyone.
Hilariously, John tried to avoid this kind of thing happening while presenting the award with Queen Latifah, joking that he wouldn’t attempt it.
“You’d better do it because I’ll mispronounce s— and f*** it up,” he said.
It comes after his major gaffe at the Oscars in 2014 when he was presenting Idina Menzel to sing “Let It Go” from Frozen:

Oh, John. We still love you.
