Instagram has rolled out a new ‘test’ feature in Australia that has gotten rid of being able to view people’s ‘likes’.

The feature is not an opt-in or out feature – it is something that has automatically updated on the app for all Instagram users in the country.
However, before people start to panic – it is not a permanent feature.
The test is rolled out to see if the user experience becomes more enjoyable without the ‘like’ feature.
Instagram Australia’s Director of Policy Mia Garlick spoke with 7News.com.au, revealing that the new test feature is to encourage users to focus on the quality of the content shared, and not obsess over likes.
“The idea is to just really let you focus on the content and the experience of engaging without being worried or feeling pressured over how many likes a post has received”, Ms Garlick told 7News.
And don’t stress too much – you can still see your own likes on your own content, it is just private to the rest of the public.
Video views are also being hidden.
