Did you know that Halsey is like, 1/4 black? You must, because she loves to remind us.
While we’re all about celebrating your background, people of colour have taken offence to her recent tweet which is a little tone-deaf.
“I’ve been traveling for years now and it’s been so frustrating that the hotel toiletry industry entirely alienates people of color. I can’t use this perfumed watered down white people shampoo. Neither can 50% of ur customers. Annoying,” she wrote on Twitter.
They were pretty up in arms about it.
It’s not the first time people have called out Halsey for being late to the convo in regards to black women’s struggles.
An old interview with Blavity saw Halsey discuss her race and how she has felt black her whole life. But she’s admitted to not trying to speak up on black issues either. “I’m white-passing. I’ve accepted that about myself, and have never tried to control anything about black culture that’s not mine.
C’mon Hals.
