WATCH: Hilary Duff announces Adam Lamberg is returning as Gordo in Lizzie McGuire reboot
Did you hear that? That was the entire world letting out their sigh of relief because let’s face it, Lizzie McGuire isn’t Lizzie McGuire without Gordo (Adam Lamberg) following her everywhere.
“Hey guys, it is Hilary Duff here from the set of Lizzie McGuire coming soon to Disney+. I’m so excited to be back I’m so excited for you guys to come along on this journey with Lizzie.”
While chatting to the camera about all the old cast members returning, sich as her Mcguire family, we hear someone off-camera interrupt. “Wait, wait… Fam’s not complete without me. Gordo’s back,” Adam says as he joins Lizzie in front of the camera.
“Alright, now you can say it,” Hilary says.
“This is what dreams are made of,” Gordo says to the camera, and just like that, we’re all deceased.
“Gordo was an essential piece of the puzzle to what made the original Lizzie McGuire so authentic and beloved,” Duff said in a statement. “I couldn’t imagine the series without him. I can’t wait for fans to see what he’s up to 15 years later and how he fits into Lizzie’s adult world.”
The former besties from the show also posed for a selfie together. “I feels so basic saying something that’s been shouted at me almost my whole life buuuut……hey now, hey now✨” read the caption.
“I feel like them not being together is what was so good…it’s that one person that you’re like, ‘Was he the one? Is it ever going to be?’ You’re always kind of wondering,” Hilary told Vulture earlier this year. “We wanted it to hurt everyone a little bit, and it’ll continue to hurt. I really hope he’s going to be involved. We’ve been planning out the season and coming up with what everything looks like, and it’s so important for him to be there for part of it.”
The news comes after it was revealed that Lizzie’s number one crush Ethan Craft (Clayton Snyder) may also be returning for the reboot.
In an interview with E! News, Hilary said: “He’s hot. He’s very hot. I’m pretty sure there’s going to be, there’s going to be a thing.”
Now there’s just one more person to return… Miranda! Make it happen, Disney.
