Following yesterday’s terror attack in New York City that saw eight eight people dead and 11 injured after a driver plowed through pedestrians and cyclists on a bike path, the internet has been flooded with outrage.
Unfortunately, due to the nature of the attack, some people have taken to Twitter to slam the Islam community and it’s not okay.
One celebrity of the Muslim faith, Gigi Hadid, responded to an ignorant tweet by a US based journalist and she did not hold back.
“Muslims are out in full force at the scene of the NYC #ISIS attack today rubbing it in everyone’s face. Aimlessly walking around in hijabs,” journalist Laura Loomer said in an infuriating tweet. “You’d think they’d have the decency to not walk around in hijabs @ cross street of the attack. But they don’t. I bet they’re loving this.”
Hadid responded: “Laura, I hate to give you the attention, but I need to tell you- You’re a f**king moron.”
Responses to Hadid’s tweet have been mixed, with some praising the star for using her voice to defend the Muslim community, while others are unhappy about a celebrity commenting on the terror attack.
With such serious issues going down across the world, it’s important that we spread nothing but love, hope and kindness, not fear and hatred.
