ICYMI: Gigi Gorgeous and girlfriend Nats Getty posted all over social media earlier this week that they were delighted to welcome their baby boy via surrogate into their family.
Fans were all like, ‘when the heck did you plan on having a baby??’, and some even calling them out for faking it.
Well, say it ain’t so but the fans were totally right. The baby isn’t theirs at all.
A rep for Gigi released a statement to Clevver, saying, “On behalf of YouTube personality Gigi Gorgeous, I would like to clarify any rumours from the past few days regarding Gigi’s Instagram post. Gigi and her girlfriend, Nats did not have a child together. Gigi’s use of the word surrogate was not meant the way it was received.
“Her use of the term while holding her friend’s new baby was meant playfully, as she was stepping into the parenting role and caring for the child during her visit,” the rep continued. “She was so excited to help care for the baby and is thrilled to be a part of the child’s life. Gigi believes that family is what you make it and will help provide a support system for the child for many years to come.”
Gigi even posted a video on YouTube to explain the situation.
“The baby is not ours, but we look at it like he is,” Gigi said.
The description in the video read, “After a whirlwind of texts and phone calls from family and friends after Nats and I posted pictures holding the beautiful newborn baby, I felt the only way to address this matter respectfully was in a YouTube video explaining in depth what happened so NOTHING could be misconstrued or taken out of context. This is just a lesson that everything posted on social media shouldn’t be taken too literally because a lot of the time IT’S NOT WHAT IT SEEMS, GIRL.
“Our situation might not be relatable to everyone, but we please ask that you respect the solid fact that we meant no harm from these posts and we really do love all children of the world. We’ve now chosen to live by 5 simple rules: Care Honestly In Loving Devotion.”
Naturally, the hate rolled in.
