The 70 Annual Emmy Awards aired yesterday, and its safe to say that it was pretty successful (hello – there was even a proposal on stage).
HOWEVER, one thing fans are majorly pissed at is the fact that Mac Miller wasn’t included during the ‘In Memoriam’ segment.
The segment pays tribute to celebrities who have died within the last year, and while the Emmy’s are an awards show for actors, Aretha Franklin and John McCain were honoured, making that argument invalid.
Not to mention the fact that Mac Miller had his own reality show on MTV2, Mac Miller and the Most Dope Family, which ran for two seasons from 2013-2014.
As expected, fans were raging on Twitter about his snub, finding it extremely disrespectful.
Mac Miller’s ex-girlfriend Ariana Grande was supposed to attend the awards show with fiancé Pete Davidson, however they instead .
“Given the events of the past couple of years, Ariana is going to take some much needed time to heal and mend,” Ariana’s team said in a statement. “She will be staying close to home and using this period to spend time with her loved ones and work on new music without deadline. She thanks her fans for their understanding.”
