Some fans are calling out Shawn Mendes’ new album artwork

"No offence but does shawn know..."

Shawn Mendes has officially revealed that his third album will be a self-titled record named Shawn Mendes: The Album, and will drop May 25.

KEEN! Especially since he’s also announced collaborations with artists like Khalid and Julia Michaels.

However, the album artwork has caused a bit of a tiff with fans after they saw it.

You can see the artwork consists of Shawn’s beautiful face being cropped up with bright, gorgeous flowers. Très artistic.

Shawn credited @jayy_babyxo97 for the inspiration behind the art, but other fans have noticed that the pic looks verrrrry similar to a simple filter that can be found on picture editing app called Photo Lab.

One person even compared the filter, (which is called Inner Bloom).

Shiiiii.

“no offense but does shawn know that the workart was actually made by an app called photolab?” One follower wrote. Another, “I mean Shawn Mendes should give credz to photolab app too.”

However, it’s important to realise that Photo Lab didn’t exactly come up with this style of artwork themselves either. This style of art has definitely been used in the past, and one fan even pointed out that an artist named Marcelo Monreal created similar collage-based art.

Thankfully, other fans are defending the person that Shawn originally credited for the inspiration, as they also don’t deserve so much hate over this.

Let’s be real, this style of art is so on trend right now that we wouldn’t be surprised if we saw people walking down the street with floral arrangements emerging from their faces.

Everything has been done before. Nothing is original lmao.
