Ed Sheeran Was Booed At The Grammy Awards After Winning

And not everyone is surprised...

The 2018 Grammy Awards may have concluded at the beginning of this week, but we’re still feeling the aftermath of it.

A lot went down, but not all of it was great. In fact, most of the hype around the Grammy’s is that women were not at all acknowledged for the amazing year they had in music.

And, in light of the #TimesUp and #MeToo movement, people are slamming the awards show for how heavily they missed the mark.

So… when Ed Sheeran took out the Grammy for Best Pop Solo Performance with “Shape Of You”, people were really annoyed.

So annoyed, that there were ‘boos’.

The disappointment doesn’t have anything to do with Ed, because damn wasn’t that song amazing. It is the fact that Ed was up against four other women whose songs were incredibly meaningful and important to what’s happening in the world right now.

There was Kesha‘s “Praying,” which was a product of the sexual, physical and verbal abuse she endured from Sony’s huge producer, Dr. Luke. Lady Gaga‘s “Million Reasons,” was also nominated, alongside Kelly Clarkson‘s “Love So Soft,” and P!nk for “What About Us.”

Also, each of those women were there at the show, with most performing, while Ed didn’t even turn up.

He posted a message on his Instagram account with the caption, “Woke up to the news I won two grammys last night. Thank you ! This little fluff-ball is doing a bit of a celebratory dance, lots of love to everyone xx.”

People in the audience reportedly booed Ed after his win was announced.

It’s no discredit to Ed, who worked hard on a song that was played repetitively on the radio, but while the song is about going out with friends and finding a girl to hook up with, people thought that with how powerful the other songs were, they deserved more credit.
