It’s always a gem when we come across what celebrities hide on there Finsta’s, but we did NOT expect this level of shade to be thrown toward Selena Gomez from the ‘Anyone’ singer.
After the heavy backlash, Demi has now responded.
“I’ve been canceled so many times that I can’t even count,” Demi said to actress Jameela Jamil on her podcast “I Weigh”.
“The hashtag, #DemiIsOverParty, that whole thing it’s just, like, it doesn’t even affect me anymore.”
Demi continued, saying she doesn’t believe in the cancel culture at all, and doesn’t even think it’s real. “I don’t think that anybody was ever officially canceled,” she explained. ” Otherwise certain people wouldn’t have Grammys today, certain people wouldn’t have Oscars, and certain people wouldn’t be where they are in their positions.”
Demi instead called for a “forgiveness culture”, where she hopes a public figure can be given the chance to do better. In doing so, they can “be an example for other people so that they can change too.”
She continued: “If you have used up your second and third chances with a certain topic, you’re canceled and you should stay canceled.”
The 27-year-old’s private account is called traumaqueen4eva, which has been proved to be hers as she and boyfriend Max Ehrich went live on the account last week.
In one photo, a younger Demi is holding a People magazine cover of her and Selena. In the photo, Demi has scribbled her signature over Selena’s face. “You can call me Petty Labelle,” she captioned the pic.
Another photo was a screenshot from her recent Harpers Bazaar interview, where she said she wasn’t friends with Selena anymore.
“Hahahahahahaha oooooooppppsss,” she allegedly wrote as the caption. “I really did try to keep my f*cking mouth shut I swear…”
A lot of people claim that these posts are photoshopped by fans of Selena, other people are saying it’s real and that they follow the account.
Who knows what is true! What we do know is that Demi and Selena’s friendship (or ex friendship) may never recover from this.
