“I get real spooked about entertainers or reality [stars]…I don’t know, it really scares me to date people in the industry—that’s number one. Number two: He asked me in front of everybody.”
Her co-star Sara asked her if she felt “ambushed,” she replied, “I felt ambushed. I felt like it was a big ol’ gag.”
Mike also tweeted out about the interaction, saying that he “deflected a question posed to me on my dating life,” and that he loves black women.
ORIGINAL STORY: If you somehow weren’t aware… our girl Demi Lovato has been casually dating U.S. Bachelor star, Mike Johnson.
While it hasn’t been incredibly serious, Johnson did recently reveal to the public how Demi kisses… so it’s at a level where he should be respecting the singer.
Well, unfortunately for him he kinda messed that up live on air.
The reality star appeared on the Strahan, Sara, and Keke show for an interview, where he made a very awkward admission on air.
“I don’t like dating in public, but if I were to ask you if we could go on a date in the public….” he said to Keke Palmer, who was visibly shook.
Keke was so surprised and uncomfortable that she went on to beg her co-stars Michael and Sara to go to the next question.
Michael however, was quick to defend his “girl”
“Mike, let me tell you something. Demi’s my girl, I love this one here too now. You mess up and I’m coming for you. You don’t want that.”
YAS!
However, the crowd continued to cheer, forcing Keke to butt in.
And Keke said, “Ladies, I’m at work. I’m at work, guys! Go ahead. I’m at work!” she said.
Twitter wasn’t exactly happy with Mike.
HOW awkward.
Since the backlash, Mike has admitted that he regrets being so open about his relationship with Demi to the public.
Speaking to Us Weekly on Monday (which was the same day he asked out Keke), he said saying that he wants to keep things with Demi “100 percent” to himself going forward.
“I truly don’t like speaking on certain things,” he said. “I’m getting in trouble with my homeboys right now about it. I’m learning. I’m still a human being. I’m not perfect. I’ve messed up in the past. They say geniuses learn from the mistakes of others and intelligent people learn from their own mistakes. I’m not a genius. I want to be intelligent. Therefore, I messed up and I’m going to try not to let it happen again.”
These comments came after Mike detailed the way Demi kisses while chatting with Ben Higgins and Ashley Iaconetti Haibon on iHeart Radio’s Almost Famous podcast.
“I like her tattoos—we both have a lot of tattoos. Demi has more than me. And, uh, she kisses really well,” he was also just all, “She definitely was the aggressor, you know, I find it incredibly sexy. I love that, like, ‘Come at me. You want me, come at me.’ I want you, I’m [going to] come at you. I’m coming at her as well.”
Demi made her feelings for the former contestant well-known in July, when he tweeted his perfect woman, since then, they have been “hanging out and getting to know each other.”
It all started with Mike’s initial tweet:
“Jus saying, my future wife though🌹girl you ready for smiles, adventure, comfort, growth, honesty, laughter, me falling using my inhaler and kissing your stretch marks and imperfections. Where u hiding👀”
Fans were quick to let Demi know that her perfect man was looking for her!
“Mike I accept your rose,” Demi wrote on her Instagram Stories. “IM RIGHT HERE MIKE I’M RIGHT HERE BOO MY MOM ALREADY LOVES YOU TOO.”
