It’s hard to imagine brother and sister superstars Cody and Alli Simpson doing anything other than working in the entertainment industry but it turns out that they both wanted to pursue a completely different career path when they were kids.
And, it involved the Olympics!
Alli didn’t even think about working as a singer, host and model before her family moved from Australia to America.
“I moved to LA when I was 12 for my brother Cody’s career and had no idea [that] I wanted to get into this kind of work” she told Girlfriend’s Beauty Boss podcast.
“I was a competitive swimmer, I grew up wanting to go to the Olympics for swimming and so did Cody so we were kind of thrown into the entertainment industry and it wasn’t something I ever thought I’d be interested in.”
While the Simpson siblings didn’t end up competing in swimming, they did have a cool Olympics-related career highlight in 2016.
“One of the coolest things that I got to do alongside Cody, we got to go to Rio during the Olympics and run in the opening ceremony torch relay,” she said. “That’s one of the coolest things that we both say to this day.”
And, watching the swimming in Rio sparked their love of the sport again.
“We both went and watched the swimming and we were like ‘Should we swim again? Should we go back into swimming?’ but we were like ‘No, we’re too deep now,’” she said.
Crazy, right?!
