Shay Mitchell, her partner Matte Babel and their young daughter Atlas kinda seem like a dream family.
You know, the kind that has meaningful conversations about their day after work and whose vegetables never get soggy in the fridge drawer.

Mitchell has been spending plenty of time with her lil family over the last year and a half amid the COVID-19 pandemic, so naturally it got us (and her legion of fans) a-wondering: Are Shay and Matte getting hitched any time soon?
Well, the You and Pretty Little Liars actress has candidly opened up about the topic – and it might just be our answer.
Speaking to ET, the actress explained that while a lot of people ask her about marriage, “it’s never been something I really cared for.” Note, she is still a big fan of weddings. “I love weddings, love weddings. I can watch them all day long. I love attending, I love being a part of my friends’, anybody’s to be quite honest. It’s just not something I care for, for myself and it’s something that Matte and I have spoken about.”
Apparently, Babel has been pretty insistent about checking on Mitchell’s marriage stance too. “He’s been like, ‘You sure?’ And I’m like, ‘Yeah, we work so well right now.’ It’s great and this dynamic just works for us.”
If it ain’t broke don’t fix it, we guess!
“It may not always be the correct way but it works,” she said. “That’s how I sort of have to go, you know, that’s how I do it.”
Well, looks like Mitchell is truly the embodiment of ‘you do you,’ and we’re super here for it. 👏
While they’ve kept their relationship pretty private, it’s thought that Mitchell and Babel have been together from around January 2017.
Like, Mitchell, Babel works in the entertainment industry, as both a TV personality and previously a reporter. The extremely aesthetically pleasing couple welcomed their first daughter Atlas in late 2019. Mitchell previously spoke about her tragic miscarriage in 2018, which sadly are more common than many people realise.
Happily, it appears both Mitchell’s pregnancy and the couple’s new family life is going beautifully.
“It’s so much fun to see how already wrapped around her finger he already is. I mean, Atlas has these little hands but let me tell you, he’s all around them,” she said.
“He can’t say ‘no’ already and I’m like, ‘I told you so.’ It’s a special relationship and it’s so nice to see it grow.”
When it comes to the nitty-gritty (babies, ICYMI are extremely high maintenance) the couple split their co-parenting duties seamlessly.
“I’ll feed her and then he’s got the nighttime shift. We’ve just been switching off like, literally, a team of players,” she quips.
“I’m grateful to have this time as a family right now. There are great days and not so great days, but we need them all to appreciate the other ones.”
The final adorable detail Mitchell shared? She reckons that her daughter Atlas’ current favourite word comes from a TikTok she and Pretty Little Liars co-star Ashley Benson made. Benson recently had what seems like a private and pretty chill split from her girlfriend Cara Delevingne.
“She’s not talking yet but her word right now is wow,” she explained.
“This is embarrassing. I don’t know if it came from that TikTok dance. She may or may not have heard that quite often. But every time she’s like, ‘wow,’ and it’s the funniest thing. I can be doing anything and I get a wow from her. She’s obviously impressed.”
