Less than a week since the internet called out Kim Kardashian West for flying herself, her friends and family to a lavish “private island” amidst a global pandemic, and her sister Kendall Jenner has proven she either didn’t listen or simply doesn’t care.
Today, Kendall turns 25 and to celebrate, over the weekend she held a huge birthday party. Like, 100 people in a room despite it being a global pandemic, kinda huge. And, needless to say, people are respectfully not happy about her decision.
Who attended Kylie Jenner’s 25th birthday party?
Nearly everyone was in attendance. Including, Kendall Jenner, Kylie Jenner, Justin Bieber, Hailey Bieber, Jaden Smith, the Weeknd, Saweetie, Kim Kardashian, Kanye West, Paris Hilton, Travis Scott, Scott Disick, Winnie Harlow, Anastasia Karanikolaou and Noah Centineo.
While a photo shows that Smith was wearing a decorative hospital mask, apart from him, not a single attendee was seen wearing a face mask. And, just like the Kardashian family getaway, only the people working at the event, who make infinitely less money than everyone in the room, were wearing face masks.
Having a party like this is also quite illegal right now. Kendall Jenner’s 25th birthday party broke California’s current COVID-19 rule that only people from up to three households can gather at a venue. Just yesterday, the region recorded 3,635 new cases, adding to the 941,000 previously confirmed and nearly 18,000 dead from the virus.
It’s interesting to note that Jenner’s party had a “no social media rule”—“take all of the photos you want, but please do not post on social media of any kind”—as if she was aware it wasn’t the right thing to do right now. And, ofc, that didn’t stop people like Kylie Jenner sharing clips from the party all over her Instagram Story.
Entertainment Tonight reports that guests were required to take rapid COVID-19 tests upon arriving at the party, and weren’t allowed in until they received a negative result. But, even if they took some level of precaution, hosting a party like this during a pandemic really just, ain’t it.
Going forward, let’s all make a vow to not be like Kendall Jenner here. Instead, be like Bella and Gigi Hadid, Joey King and the others who decided to do the right thing and spend their Halloween at home because there’s a global pandemic and U.S. election in a few days, and staying inside and helping fight the spread of COVID-19 *is* the right thing to do.
