Last week, controversial YouTuber Jake Paul was in the press more so than usual after his home in California was searched by the FBI. When the raid occurred, people were shocked, delighted, and very confused at the news. All we knew was that his attorney told TMZ that Paul was out of state when the search took place, and “many guns” were reportedly found in his possession. But, in a now deleted video, the infamous Paul sibling explained why.
“Just to clarify things and set the record straight, the FBI raid is entirely related to the Arizona looting situation that happened,” he said. “It’s an investigation. There are rumours about it having to do with so many other things that have nothing to do with me or my character and the s**t that people are making up is absolutely absurd.”
The “Arizona looting situation” refers to a video which allegedly shows Jake Paul looting at an Arizona mall, in the midst of the chaos and raiding occurring during the initial protests demanding justice for the death of George Floyd, a Black American man who was murdered by police.
“That being said, when I become aware of someone around me who is doing malicious things they are immediately cut out of my life,” he added. “I don’t put up with bulls–t, I don’t surround myself with bad people. If someone does something bad, they will be removed from my life.”
Then, over on his Impaulsive podcast, Paul’s brother Logan addressed how the raid and backlash from the video has affected his younger brother.
“I’ll tell you what I know. I know what you know. I don’t know sh-t. I know my brother’s okay, physically he’s fine, but I don’t know. I’m out of the loop on this one guys,”
“Yeah, I checked in on him, he’s fine, physically,” he added. “It’s a bit of a headache, we’re figuring it out. This story will unfold, but I want you guys to know that we’re here to support Jake Paul, and hopefully this comes out in a healthy, amicable way for all parties. It’s mainly my brother.”
Jake Paul is no stranger to controversy. In 2018, fans called for the Paul siblings to be arrested after a series of illegal activity, and sued after trashing a former influencer home. And, just a few weeks ago, Jake Paul tried to defend himself and other influencers for partying during a global pandemic.
