Hailey Bieber has opened up and absolutely smacked down recent accusations and rumours that she’s had plastic surgery. The model and wife of Justin Bieber was the subject of a now-deleted Instagram post by an account that often posts celebrity plastic surgery transformations.
Being a celebrity must be exhausting. Imagine trying to give your loyal fans everything they want in a constant stream of interviews and a thrice-weekly Facebook live show and instead, people just pick you apart for supposed plastic surgery?
The account in question, @beautyambra, posted a side-by-side pic of a young Hailey Bieber with a more recent picture. It’s not an uncommon thing, charting people’s looks as they grow up in the public eye, but the model took issue with the account using a picture of her she claimed was heavily edited.
In a comment on the post, Bieber slammed the comparison, “Stop using pics that are edited by makeup artists! This photo on the right is NOT what I look like…” She continued, setting the record straight once and for all that she hasn’t had any plastic surgery.
“I’ve never touched my face so if you’re gonna sit around and compare me at 13, and then me at 23, at least use a natural photo that wasn’t edited so crazy,” said Bieber.
The giant age gap between the pics is also pretty harsh. As one commenter put it, “People think that over the years you have to stay the same. Everyone changes.”
Regardless of how we feel about the pressures on women to look unnaturally perfect, plastic surgery is a personal choice. Chastising people for something they may or may not have done to themselves, that doesn’t affect anyone else a single bit, is not only unkind but also maintains a toxic cycle of obsession and criticism.
