Camila Mendes managed to land the role as the iconic Veronica Lodge in Riverdale… and she totally deserves it!
But it didn’t just fall into her lap.
Cami opened up in a recent interview with LADYGUNN, explaining that she got her foot in the Hollywood door by having an internship.
During her days as a student at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, she interned at a talent agency.
When she had finished up with the internship, Camila asked to audition to be represented. Simple as that!
“I think as actors, people are waiting to be discovered and they’re waiting for people to be like, ‘Wow. What a talent. I must sign you,’” Camila told the mag. “But really, you have to put yourself out there. And yeah, it’s going to be a little uncomfortable, but what’s the worst that can happen, you know?”
Even so, Camila hadn’t graduated from college before landing the huge role as Veronica!
She also revealed how that internship was such a formative experience “on the business side of the entertainment industry.”
“I didn’t grow up in a family that had that knowledge,” Camila said. “Especially having Brazilian immigrants as parents. They understand Hollywood even less than, I think, the typical American family.”
Go girl.
