Ever seen a white person get an Asian tattoo that they say means ‘Hope’ or something equally as motivational, only to find out it actually means, like, ‘soap’?
Well, Ariana Grande has just become the latest victim of this.
The pop princess showed off a new tattoo on her Instagram yesterday, which showcased two Japanese symbols on the palm of her hand (ouch).
Ariana’s new tattoo was supposed to read “7 Rings” to commemorate her latest single, but when she posted the photo on Instagram, her Japanese fans informed her that it, in fact, read, “shichirin”, which is a small Japanese BBQ.
Ari was clearly embarrassed, as she removed the photo as soon as she was informed of its real meaning. She later tweeted an explanation, which is now also deleted.
It read, “Indeed, I left out ‘つの指’ which should have gone in between. It hurt like f*ck n still looks tight. I wouldn’t have lasted one more symbol lmao. But this spot peels a ton and won’t last so if I miss it enough I’ll suffer thru the whole thing next time.”
“Also….. huge fan of tiny bbq grills,” she wrote
