It’s been well known that Ariana Grande has had a strained relationship with her father, Edward Butera.
WATCH: Ariana Grande changes ‘Thank U, Next’ lyrics to honour her dad
She said so herself not only in interviews but in her hit song ‘Thank U, Next’.
The original lyrics are:
“One day I’ll walk down the aisle / holding hands with my mama / I’ll be thanking my dad / ’cause she grew from the drama”
WELL, during her Grammys performance yesterday, Ari changed the lyrics too:
“I’ll be thanking my dad/ Cause he’s really awesome.”
Cute!
It comes after Ariana and her father began reconciling in 2018.
It gets even better though! Edward actually walked Ariana down the red carpet at the 2020 Grammys, which her mother Joan Grande.
Just look how incredibly happy he looks to be there…
Now that’s what we call the queen of moving forward! #Growth.
Speaking to Seventeen in 2014, Ariana admitted to “falling out of touch” with Edward. She said, “Falling out of touch with my dad [was the toughest thing I’ve ever dealt with]. It’s private, but it happened last year. It took me so long to be okay with it.”
While she didn’t go into detail about what actually happened, she did explain how she has come to terms with it.
“So much of me comes from my father, and for so long, I didn’t like that about myself. I had to accept that it’s okay to not get along with somebody and still love them.”
