Ariana Grande has had to apologise to her fans, after making an awfully insensitive joke on Instagram about JonBenét Ramsey.
Ariana’s friend Doug Middlebrook posted a photo of a tabloid magazine with JonBenét Ramsey’s face on the cover on his Instagram page, captioning it, “no one has done more for covers.”
On the photo, Ariana commented, “i cant WAIT for this to be your halloween look ♥.”
Ahhh. That’s not good.
For anyone who isn’t aware of who JonBenét Ramsey is, she was a young child beauty pageant queen who was violently murdered in her family home in 1996, when she was only 6-years-old.
To this day, her murderer is unknown, with the case still open for investigation.
Ariana was quick to delete her comment, but fans were quicker to screenshot it and post it on Twitter.
“Wait WHAT?? an 8-year-old girl who was violently killed, strangled and suffocated cannot be anyone’s costume…” one fan wrote.
Since the backlash, Ariana has to the comment saying that she realised that what she said wasn’t funny in any way. “@ivanmoratroya yeah no i deleted it very quickly and understand that it’s not at all funny. this was out of pocket and i sincerely apologize.”
Regardless of her apology, people are still really pissed.
Yikes.
